Always a Patriot Quilt
I started this quilt last fall when I was feeling particularly homesick for the States. In the corners I was going to add some appliqué, but I think I am going to leave it blank and do some pretty quilting. I've never done trapunto - so maybe that would be a good idea for that area. I'm piecing red and off white half square triangles for the border right now. I'm not quite sure how I am going to lay them out yet, but I'll figure something out. All the cats were asleep, so I was able to get the quilt up and off the floor before they knew what was going on!

I am also working on a Dear Jane quilt - I have completed 29 blocks now. I also love the dutch chintz fabric. I was able to order a small sample collection from an American website (Reproduction Fabrics) - I still haven't decided what to do with it. I like your idea of the paper pieced star. Very pretty.

Laura, My son-in-law heads to Iraq in September for his third tour of duty. I was trying to come up with some kind of quilt idea with the hand print of his wife and his little son. Also, I would like to make a quilt for my daughter with his hand print (appliquéd, I guess) on it to keep her warm for the months he is gone. Any ideas? Thanks. Peg
